As a sophomore in high school, Emily Schick saw a problem at her school and decided to fix it.
The Byron High School student noticed that classrooms and hallways only had recycling bins for office paper, even though the school could recycle plastic, aluminum, cardboard and more. So Schick approached one of her teachers and started the Go Green Club.
Now finishing her junior year, Schick has been leading an ever-growing group of students to help make the school a greener place.
The group started by addressing the recycling issue by providing more bins for different materials all over the school and making a video to inform students and staff about how and what to recycle.
