EcoCity Works! Performs

Community engagement, Energy conservation

Students will create a music video using their talents in rap and beat as well as their knowledge of what behaviors we can influence or change in order to reduce our carbon footprint. The video will be shown to students and staff within the school, as well as family members and others in the community.

Our goal is to engage students in a meaningful, environmentally relevant project that educates as well as provides outreach to students, families, and the community. We especially want to stress that a million small changes can make a huge difference in vitally needed carbon footprint reduction.

EcoCity Works! Goes to Work

Community engagement, Energy conservation, Energy efficiency, Green building

Students and staff will team to reduce our carbon emissions. This will involve students becoming “Energy Activists” and surveying electrical use, installing materials that would save energy, and doing presentations for the whole school. Funds would be spent on materials as needed, such as lightbulbs, window treatments, or weatherstripping.

Our goal is to use our site to illustrate and model ways that a building can be made more energy efficient. Armed with comparative data that was acquired through our ERM survey, our team can then make changes to the building, and view the results of those changes afterwards. We intend this project to be ongoing through several years. Reducing our carbon footprint is the ultimate goal.
