Are you ready for Earth Week?! It’s sure going to be fun! Here are the events we are planning:
All week long:
Recycling Drive;
Every day we will be going around to classrooms and collecting any pieces of paper and water bottles to be recycled. We will also be collecting pieces of paper that have only been used on one side. We are asking that students cross out their name and score if the paper was graded, and give them to us. We will then go through them again and check for anything innapropiate, etc. If o.k., we will put the half used pieces of paper in the printer we have dedicated to printing pieces of paper that have one blank side, and the rest in our storage room for future use. Teachers would then use that printer if they have any one sided worksheets etc., therefore reducing and reusing the paper! :)
Bingo;
We have made 25 “green accomplishments” that are easy to prove and are in the form of a Bingo card. If a studyhall gets a bingo, everyone in that study hall gets a treat, (A Hershey’s Kiss or a candy like that), and the first studyhall that gets a blackout (all spaces covered) gets a smoothie party!
Trivia;
Each day right in the morning during first hour, we will announce a trivia question over the PA system, and the first teacher to call in the answer gets a treat!
Monday: Earth Week Video – Green Tips; we will be playing a video for studyhalls to watch packed full of fun facts and green tips.
Tuesday: Ride your bike day; majorly encourage students to ride their bikes to school on this day, one random and lucky participant will get a gift card to Eric’s Bike Shop.
Wednesday: Earth Day Assembly; all school assembly. Keynote speaker, environmental presentation, and select clips of “An Inconvenient Truth” will be shown.
Thursday: Environmental Club Recruitment Day; will walk around to studyhalls, and advertise during lunch to sign up for the Eagle Ridge Environmental Club! :)
Friday: Awards, results, and winners; will announce Bingo, trivia, and Ride your Bike winners, and thank the school for participating. Will be playing “An Inconvenient Truth” all day long for teachers to tune in to if desired.
