EcoWatch is a student-led organization on the University of Minnesota campus. As one of our projects, we have started a "green roofing" project. Green roofing is a method of growing vegetation on the roofs of buildings so as to insulate buildings (reducing energy input for heating and cooling), to filter C02 and pollutants (high in urban areas) in air and water, and to increase wildlife habitat for these urban areas (particularly for migratory birds). This practice is starting to be adopted by many colleges and universities around the U.S. Ecowatch is only in the planning stages for this project but hopes to be actively green roofing as soon as fall of 2009. We are currently looking for investors, grants, and volunteers to help make this project possible! If you would like to learn more, contact us at ; or, even better, attend our Monday meetings at Coffman Union, 300 Washington Ave SE, on the Minneapolis campus, Room 323 at 5:30 p.m.
