Minnesota Schools Cutting Carbon

The Aitkin Gobbler Green Team hosted a week of Conservation Trivia to celebrate Earth Week in late April. Team members set up the trivia table in the lunchroom where students had the opportunity to answer different conservation questions daily. Two winners were drawn from the box daily and given prizes, such as bird feeders, that focused on nature and conservation. On Earth Day, which fell on Wednesday, the local energy cooperative, Milles Lacs Energy, had a representative on hand with a display showing energy usage for different types of bulbs. Students were intrigued by the display and there was always a group gathered around during the lunch periods. The Green Team is working on a display for Aitkin’s annual River and Lakes fair in June.
