In 1987 Harry Hutchins and Dennis Cowan started recycling cans and paper. They did this for four years and finally handed over the responsibility to Dorothy Nihart.
At the beginning of the 2008 fall semester, Dorothy was able to fund the school with new recycling bins with a grant. There are a total of 23 Paper bins, 35 Bottle and Cans, and 4 Cardboard bins located all over the ICC campus. There is also two times during the year, spring and fall, where they recycle fluorescent light bulbs. Dorothy’s next objective is to try and find a way for the campus to recycle Styrofoam.
