Minnesota Schools Cutting Carbon

The fall opening day for faculty and staff at Lake Superior College, Opening to Sustainability, focused on incorporating sustainability into LSC campus operations and curriculum was held August 18th. The keynote speaker was Debra Rowe, of Oakland Community College and a Senior Fellow in Education for Sustainability, “working with higher education associations and K-12 associations on the integration of the sustainability paradigm into all levels of formal education”. Her presentation “Bringing a Perspective of Sustainability to LSC” sparked conversations and new ideas for LSC.

Concurrent sessions included: Environmental Health, Mystery Dumpster Sort, Reconnecting with Nature, Home Composting, Reducing your Home Energy Use, Continued conversation with Dr. Deb Rowe, Environmental Council Update, President’s Climate Commitment Update, Computer Clean UP to Save Energy, Being Green (WLSSD), Regional Storm-water Protection.
