A new Green & Sustainable Construction Technology (GSCT) program has begun at Rainy River Community College this semester. The program teaches students the basics of construction along with new information and technology regarding LEED and Green Star certification.
“RRCC’s two-year Green and Sustainable Construction Technology AAS Degree or Diploma prepares you to be an all-around building trades professional. Emphasis is placed on Green Technology that increases the efficiency in a building’s use of resources such as energy, water, and materials; and decreases waste. Sustainable Technology uses resources to meet the needs of the present while preserving the environment so these needs can also be met in the future.”
Instruction includes time both in the classroom and at the worksite to prepare graduates that can be part of or lead a construction team building “green homes” in our local communities.
