UMD celebrates Earth Hour

At 8:30PM on Saturday, March 26th, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour 2011 and people will commit to actions that go beyond the hour. Check out the list of events below to see what UMD Housing & Residence Life is doing to celebrate:

Monday, 3/21
Sustainable Craft Night: Come to make your own hemp bracelets or recycled picture frames!
Griggs E/F 2 Study Lounge, 8:00PM

Tuesday, 3/22
Tray-less Tuesday: When eating in the Dining Center, try not to use a tray and see how much food waste you save!
Dining Center, All day

Wednesday, 3/23
Day of Pledges: Sign one or all of the large pledges you see hanging around the dorms to promote sustainability! UMD Residence Halls, All day

Thursday, 3/24
Movie Showing: “The Great Squeeze” – brought to you by UMD Sustainability and followed by a discussion led by Cynthia Hagley from the MN Sea Grant!
Griggs Center, 5:00PM

Saturday, 3/26
Earth Hour 2011: Acoustic Open Mic Night – enjoy acoustic music from our very own UMD students while sipping on mocktails in a relaxed atmosphere!
Griggs E/F 2 Study Lounge, 8:30PM
