Springfield High School Launches Recycling Program

Springfield High School

The Springfield High School YES team has successfully launched its school-wide plastic recycling program. In January, an assembly was held to teach students about the importance of recycling and to explain how Springfield’s recycling program would work. For about a month now, study halls in the high school have been taking turns collecting and sorting plastic from the building. Collection containers were donated by Braun & Borth Sanitation. The average volume that has been recycled is about eight large garbage bags full of plastic products each week. The YES team is hoping to expand the program to include aluminum recycling next year, at the request of many students.
