On Friday, October 30, the Springfield YES Team presented information about past projects and future goals at the Brown County County Congress in Sleepy Eye, MN. A few of the items shared were information about the 2009 Carbon Footprint Challenge, the school recycling initiative, the cafeteria composting initiative, and plans for a green roof on a portion of Springfield’s high school building. Students then entertained questions from the audience, and stayed on to listen to a speaker presenting on carbon cap and trade. Springfield’s participation in this event was the subject of a front page article in New Ulm’s newspaper, “The Journal”, on Saturday, Oct. 31.
