GFW Schools

We have a unit in our Biology course that covers ecological issues and through this study and sharing of information the Wind Energy Team was formed. The team spent one year investigating wind energy and the possibilities of incorporating it into our school system as a way to use renewal resources. The GFW School Board has adopted as a strategic goal to investigate wind energy, with the intention of purchasing a wind generator that is also an educational tool for years to come. Over the past few years, the HVAC systems in our three buildings have been updated to more efficient models, newer controls added, light sensors installed and replaced older windows with more energy efficient models. The GFW Student Council and Site Based Team have sponsored recycling programs within the school (paper, plastic, glass, cans). We also recycle our electronics products twice a year through licensed recyclers. This includes computers, TV’s, projectors, fluorescent lights, VCR’s, etc)
