On May 8th, 2009 a group of Willmar High School students will lead a GREEN fundraising effort. The student group will host a LIVE internet fundraiser utilizing a webcast format—-a GREEN technology, to not only conduct a 12 hour telethon, viewable from anywhere in the world, but will also educate viewers on the Youth Energy Summit project where students and, coordinator and Science teacher Robert Palmer, along with community volunteers have refurbished the old greenhouse on the old State Hospital Grounds now owned by Minnwest Technology Campus.

Powered year round with solar panels from the 1970’s donated from Minnwest Technology,and a biomass burner donated by Aquatherm in Brooten, Minnesota; students are learning what a difference utilizing green technologies can make in environmental practices and energy consumption as well as cost savings attributed to less expensive green practices and local food production.
